Egypt and Jordan sign gas contract

Jordan has signed a gas deal with Egypt that includes raising the selling price of the commodity .

"We have reached a fair price that satisfies both countries," said Khaled Tukan, Jordan's minister of energy and mineral resources. Citing confidentiality clauses in the deal, he refused to disclose the contents of the agreement.

Mr. Tukan said that his country would not rely on Egyptian gas as a primary source for generating electricity because of frequent interruptions, which have totaled 82 days since the beginning of the revolution.
