Account information belonging to more than 360,000 Citigroup United States credit card customers was stolen by hackers in a recent data breach, the bank said.

The number of affected customers was nearly double the number initially anticipated in Citi's 2010 annual report. It had put the number at 200,000 credit card customers affected by the breach.

The report stated that the US-based banking giant roughly has 21 million North American credit card customers.
