A good objective of leadership

A good objective of leadership is to help those who are doing poorly to do well and to help those who are doing well to do even better.

Jim Rohn

Leadership is solving problems

Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.

Colin Powell

It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

A California bridge, made in China

A massive bridge designed to be earthquake-proof is being constructed in the Chinese city of Shanghai before it is shipped to the US state of California.
The components will be pieced together between the northern California cities of Oakland and San Francisco.
The new structure will replace the ageing San Francisco Bay Bridge, from which a large piece collapsed in the 1989 earthquake but has since been rebuilt.
Many experts say the current bridge would not withstand another earthquake.
